God said, "I need somebody with a strong heart.
Strong enough for toddler tantrums and teenage testing,
yet broken enough to fall on her knees and pray, pray, pray."
So God made a mother.
God said "I need somebody who can shape a soul and find shoes on Sunday mornings
and get grass stains out of Levis.
And make dinner out of nothing and keep kids off the road and out of the toilet and in clean underwear
and will put in an 80 hour week by Wednesday night and do just one more load of laundry."
So God made a mother.
Somebody who’d stay up late with a science project that never ends, who’d get up early for the game in the rain, somebody who’d wave at the door until the taillights were out of sight and still be smiling brave.
So God made a mother.
Someone who would stand in the mess and give thanks anyway.
Someone who would pour out and bend down
and surrender not only to the physical pain of childbirth but the far deeper, unending heart pain of letting go,
letting go, letting go...from the womb, from the arms, from the front door.
Someone who would know that umbilical cords can be cut...
but heart strings never can.
So God made a mother.

To Know Them as They Grow
This is so lovely and true, be a friend, be there, be aware,
love what they do - (esp when they are 10-12 -and the teen years will be sweeter..
The biggest thing is to know the Lord Jesus, for HE alone gives the love, the wisdom and gentleness/understanding. I used to pray 'Lord, please fill in the gaps, for I cannot be all that is needed,
and Lord help me to know YOU..for if I know YOU, then I can share real faith.
FOR- ultimately it is their eternal security that is my love for them. -
that I may be, what they need, to show Your self to them.
That doesn't mean I must be strong, it means I must be weak, so that His power alone shall be mine'.

Slow down mummy, you look ever so tired, come sit and snuggle under the duvet and rest with me a while. Slow down mummy, those dirty dishes can wait, slow down mummy, let's have some fun, let's bake a cake! Slow down mummy I know you work a lot, but sometimes mummy, its nice when you just stop. We try hard to get them to grow out of needing us, then when we have done that ;) and they grow up, we again do what we can like this, coz they still need someone special to watch out for them, coz they get tired and life's too hard sometimes, and we more than anyone, know about being tired and over-done. A Weak Mother Is a Good Mother
If there is one thing I want to do well,
it’s rearing my children to know God's voice and love His ways
“A good mother is one that acknowledges her need for the power of God
to train and teach and change the hearts of her children.”
“The most important thing I can do for my children each day is to trust God
and acknowledge my weakness, not rely on myself.
He will take my meager offering and turn it into a miracle.”

Ten ways to feel like an organised mother
1. Only iron the bits that show.
2. Keep spare uniform for emergencies-even if its left over from another child and too big.
it's better than no uniform, as sleeves can be rolled up, hems tacked up for a day.
3. Keep spare hats, gloves, scarves, hair elastics and hairbrushes in a cupboard near front door.
4, Fry eggs for breakfast and serve on crackers.
5. Keep a set of drawers in the kitchen or entry, with one drawer for each child.
for all school papers, notes, school readers, library books.
6. Keep a big calendar in a prominent place.
7. Keep spare lunch boxes and drink bottles- even if it's disposable ones.
8. Keep pasta, tomato puree/ tomato tins in the pantry, cheese in fridge and peas in freezer.
9. Keep a supply of birthday cards and a couple gifts- for last minute b'day invites.
10. Keep a little sugar free "Mummy" choc for a quick pick-me-up

News.com/why-some women-say-giving-birth-doesn't-hurt
Fear impacts on labour: 'Oxytocin is the hormone that kick-starts your uterus to contract and your cervix to dilate, helping the baby to move down,' she says.
'It also makes you feel high, but it's inhibited by adrenaline, which you produce when you're afraid.
Your body doesn't want you to feel drugged if you're in danger,
so it stops oxytocin production so that you can run away and be safe.'
Contrary to Dick-Read's theory, she says the pain that results from fear isn't just in a woman's mind.
'It's a very real physical pain,' she adds. 'But crippling pain need not accompany complication-free labour.
It's a side-effect of adrenaline, which triggers a "fight or flight" response in your brain,
diverting blood to your legs and respiratory system and away from less essential areas - such as your uterus.
'While stress, fear and anxiety undeniably exacerbate pain, some women, no matter how calm they are,
will still find contractions agonising, simply because the sensation of the cervix stretching can be innately painful. Hypnobirthing won't prevent a woman tearing as she pushes her baby out either.
'There's also a risk that a woman will feel disappointment, even a failure, if she sets her heart on a pain-free birth and finds it's not possible. It's best to keep an open mind.' And, when it comes to giving birth, it seems modern, educated middle-class women are their own worst enemy. As a generation used to being in control of our lives and jobs, we find it difficult to let go and accept birth is a process that cannot be 'managed' like a work project

In Search of the Elusive Hind Milk
Believe it or not, breasts do not make two kinds of milk (fore milk and hind milk).
They simply make breastmilk. Breastmilk is not homogenized.
The fat separates from the liquid. Between feedings, the fat will begin to separate
and cling to the sides of the milk ducts. As baby begins nursing and milk flows through the milk ducts,
the fat will be gradually washed off the sides of the ducts. Fat content will gradually increase throughout the feeding. There is no magic point where the foremilk stops and the hindmilk starts.
If baby is nursing very frequently, the fat won’t have much of a chance to separate
and the fat will be more evenly dispersed throughout the feeding.
There is no need to stress.

New Info re The Pill
Medical research of scientific papers by Randy Alcorn
proves that the modern contraceptive pill causes abortions.
It is no better than the "morning after" pill because it prevents a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus.
The pill before 1988 was a very effective birth control -with its higher level of oestrogen,
but it had great medical risk for women, so the drug companies reduced the oestrogen level.
Now the new pill will work at the most only 15% of the time,
so the other 75% of the time, it is aborting a fertilized egg.
This is shocking new evidence.

Parents should teach their children to pray. Children learn both from what parents do and what they say.
Children who see their parents pass through the trials of life with fervent prayer to God,
and then hear how God answered those prayers, will remember what they saw and heard.
When their own trials come, they will remember what to do and where to turn.
They'll know God is with them

Notes on the RecipeThe recipe that follows is slightly modified (just the method, not the ingredients)
from the recipe by Sally Fallon and Mary Enig published in the book, “Nourishing Traditions”.
This recipe is also reprinted on the Weston A. Price Foundation website,
where you will also find a recipe for the goat milk and meat-based formula,
which can be used when raw cow’s milk is not available,
or for infants who are allergic to cow’s milk.
These recipes are also on the Real Milk website.
Lastly, here is what Sally Fallon writes about the homemade cow’s milk formula:
Our milk-based formula takes account of the fact that human milk is richer in whey, lactose, vitamin C, niacin,
and long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids compared to cow’s milk but leaner in casein (milk protein).
The addition of gelatin to cow’s milk formula will make it more digestible for the infant.
Use only truly expeller-expressed oils in the formula recipes, otherwise they may lack vitamin E.
The ideal milk for baby, if he cannot be breastfed, is clean, whole raw milk from old-fashioned cows,
certified free of disease, that feed on green pasture.
For sources of good quality milk, see www.realmilk.com or contact a local chapter of the
Weston A. Price Foundation.
If the only choice available to you is commercial milk, choose whole milk,
preferably organic and unhomogenized, and culture it with a piima or kefir culture to restore enzymes
(see my resources page for sources of starter cultures)

Coconut oil for skinned knees etc
"When my little one gets a cut or bruise – which is often because for some reason toddlers fall into everything – we simply step into the kitchen and get my coconut oil. I lather it on like you would any other cream and quickly you can tell a difference. It’s antibacterial and anti-fungal, it fights infection, and best of all it has no negative side effects and is completely natural. It greatly reduces healing time. This one makes my list because it is so versatile and something that as a real food family we typically have on hand anyway – even if we are out of other things.
You can also use coconut oil on burns, bug bites, skin problems, and the list could honestly go on forever."

I want you to know that what you are doing matters --
and that where you are right now in your parenting journey
is seriously one of the hardest stages in my own parenting journey.
You are needed all day long. It is exhausting.
There is no fanfare, no awards, no blue ribbons, no nothing for being a mom.
And sometimes, it's easy to think that what you are doing doesn't matter.
That your work - the picking up, cleaning, diaper-changing, nose wiping,
feeding, rocking, reading, cooking and more doesn't matter.
But, dear sister, it matters. Deeply. Life matters.
You keep going. Keep loving on your children.
They grow, dear moms of those little ones. They grow, they grow, they grow, they grow.
And soon the one dumping out the blocks will be reading, busy on the phone, doing something --
and you will want them around you -
while you think back with nostalgia at those little ones underfoot days.
You are amazing. Absolutely amazing.
Being a mom is never something to dismiss.
I'm giving you a gold star. :)

That’s Why The Secret To Morning Sickness . . .Is to build up your magnesium stores before getting pregnant!
You can can do this by consuming magnesium rich foods such as bone broth, seaweed, leafy green vegetables, properly soaked seeds and nuts, unrefined sea salt and soaked or sprouted whole grains.
And because Vitamin D, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, and a little calcium are essential
for magnesium absorption you’re going to want to eat foods that contain those nutrients, too.
(Note: According to Kristen, this is one of those instances in which Vitamin D supplements cannot replace sunshine. Studies comparing fermented cod liver oil vs. sunlight show that magnesium absorption
goes WAY up when you get real sunlight!
More info on how to get the benefits of sunlight without burning here.)
Of course, modern farming practices and water filtration systems
have drastically reduced the magnesium content of the foods listed above,
so you may want to add in a supplement as well. I personally use magnesium oil
because it is much more easily absorbed by the body than pills.
Be careful to by from someone you trust, though,
because some magnesium oils contain contaminants like mercury.

- During pregnancy it is essential to nourish our bodies, giving the baby all it needs to promote healthy development. Supplementation is important for mothers as the developing baby will take what it needs from her, often leaving her body lacking. It is especially important for vegetarian or vegan mothers, and others who may not meet all their nutritional needs through diet alone.
- Folic Acid
If you are planning on becoming pregnant, commence taking a folic acid supplement (400mg/day) one month prior to conception. Folic acid helps prevent against neural tube defects in the baby very early in pregnancy and helps develop normal blood cells and DNA in the baby.
B vitamins & Coenzyme Q10
When you do become pregnant, a multivitamin containing B vitamins and coenzyme Q10 aids energy production; it should also include chromium for blood sugar stabilisation, selenium and molybdenum for heavy metal chelation to decrease the likeliness of autism in the baby, and other vitamins and minerals discussed below. Make sure the multivitamin is specifically designed for use during pregnancy as some vitamin and mineral intakes should not increase at this time (i.e. Vitamin A).
Calcium
Calcium is particularly important for mothers under 25years old who are yet to acquire peak bone mass.
When the mother is consuming an adequate intake of calcium, it can help lower her blood pressure and avoid pre-eclampsia during pregnancy. If the mother’s diet is lacking calcium, it can affect her nerve sensitivity, leading to muscular cramps. As the foetus takes its required calcium from the mother’s bones, the lead accumulated in the mother’s bones will pass into her bloodstream and therefore to the foetus. Lead exposure can permanently damage the brain and so it is important to avoid supplements containing lead.
Calcium intake below 1000 mg can also cause low birth weight, cognitive defects and even miscarriage.
To assist with the absorption and metabolism of calcium, vitamin D is required. Vitamin D (5 mg/day) is important in developing the foetus’ immune and nervous systems, and its bone, heart and kidney health.
Iodine
For a baby, healthy thyroid function is dependent on mom’s intake of iodine, which is also involved in the baby’s brain and central nervous system development. During pregnancy 220mg/day is recommended.
Magnesium
Many pregnant women experience muscle cramping, which may be caused by a change in fluid and blood circulation, not moving for a period of time (such as when laying in bed), or pressure on nerves and blood vessels. Dehydration can be implicated also as can a lack of calcium or magnesium. Magnesium intakes of 350mg/day in gestation can help prevent and relieve muscle cramps and is important for the baby in building and repairing tissue, bone and teeth health, and regulation of insulin and blood sugar.
Omegas
Essential fatty acids, omega 3 and 6, are vital for brain cell, nervous system and eye development of the baby. Currently, intakes of 1.4g of omega 3 per day are thought to provide these benefits. Combined with omega 7, these fatty acids are important for mucous membrane viscosity, aiding the body’s preparation for labour.
Zinc & Vitamin C
Taking zinc (11mg/day) assist’s the developing foetus’ metabolic pathways and promotes healthy birth weight and full term pregnancies. Zinc is also a component of healthy skin, helping mom achieve that notorious pregnancy glow. To help prevent stretch marks, supplement with zinc capsules and silica (silica can be applied topically or ingested).
Iron
Iron is arguably the most important mineral during pregnancy as it is a critical component of haemoglobin and myoglobin in the blood, which both deliver oxygen around the body. Gestation causes a mother’s blood volume to increase almost 50% and therefore you should aim for an intake of 27mg/day. Vitamin C is required for iron absorption, other mineral utilisation and the baby’s tissue development. An additional 15mg/day is required during pregnancy. Vitamin C can also protect against pre-eclampsia and offer antioxidant benefits. However, large doses are not recommended as the newborn baby may suffer rebound scurvy from being used to having lots of vitamin C to little amounts. Large doses have also traditionally been linked to miscarriage in early pregnancy. Here are additional ways to keep your iron and protein up while pregnant.
Ginger Root
Try Ginger root as it is great for decreasing symptoms of morning sickness.
Red Raspberry Leaf
Red raspberry leaf is a very powerful supplement that has a number of benefits but it needs to be used with caution as it may stimulate the uterus, causing miscarriage in early pregnancy. In the last trimester, it is considered safe to consume and has been prescribed all over the world for many centuries for uterine toning, causing the uterus to relax as it contracts and calm cramping. Red raspberry leaf is believed to stimulate the onset of labour and it helps the uterus return to its shape post-partum. Consuming red raspberry leaf while lactating is thought to promote a healthy milk supply and enhance milk flow. For more information on Raspberry Leaf, check out the entire Red Raspberry Leaf article.
When choosing supplements, always consult a nutritionist or health care practitioner, ensure the supplements are well concentrated, and take only as directed. Supplements should never replace a balanced diet. - Dr Mercola.com/soy-effects-on-women & babies.
