Come, take my hand, let's explore beyond the way
Let's skip among the greenery, for summer's here today
Come, walk the path of sunshine, 'neath skies of deepest blue
We'll twirl and laugh and play all day, and enjoy the pretty view
Let's race upon the breeze and dance within the wind
Throw petals in the air, praise God for all He brings
We'll walk and walk, 'til we are tired and talk of all we know
But leave a trail of footprints, to find our way back home

Might summer be too short for all the thoughts we want to play,
all the walks we want to take, all the birds we want to sing
and all the friends we want to see.

In the good old summertime, roll out the funtimes at the beach,
It's time to step back a beat bring on the lemonade, the oranges and peach.
Call for all your friends to gather at the pool,
Light the barbie, hoist the flag in delightful praise- where everything is cool.
Chat on summer plans, crickets chirping in the sun,
Ask the Father what to do where to holiday- for all His way be done.
It's the months to celebrate, the heat is turning on,
The Creator whisked away the frosty days- and bid them all be gone.
Watch the clouds go scudding by, in sky so deeply blue,
What better way to receive His gift- the pleasure, of a balmy summer afternoon.

Earth's crammed with heaven, and every common bush afire with God;
But only he who sees takes off his shoes; the rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.

~ Pretty Summer Days ~
There's something so very pretty about the warmth of summer days
Just walking in the sunshine, soaking up the rays
In the early morning coolness, watching dolphins at their play
Balmy breezes whispering, secrets on their way
As soft sentimental shadows fall, exploding starry light
Diamond studded darkness, a mantle of the night
Until the dawn unveils again, the hiding of the moon
Immersed within the beauty, I smile with gratitude
For each sunray there unfurling, speaks of wonder true
Unfolding special sweetness, the loveliness anew.

And now that it is summer in the country's where we'll be
Along an endless winding lane in sweet tranquility
Farm houses dotting hillsides, lambs bleating plaintively
Blue skies panoramic, to frame this peaceful scene.
There in sundrenched fields of summer, we would splash across a brook
Rest awhile upon a haybale and whistle through a wood
With joy we'd climb atop a pepper tree and scan the rolling hills
Singalong with calling birds and just sit there very still
Then skip though golden fields of grain gathering pretty flowers
As we run on home for lemon tea
to dodge the summer showers

In the beauty of a summer's day, where hearts are ever warm
Your friendship glowing in pure beauty, upon each golden dawn
I thank our Father for your kindness, part of a summer's joy

If you were here with me, or, I was there with you,
And it was summer, then we 'otter' be in the pool.
And that is where we'd want to stay, in the hope of keeping cool,
The only place for you and I, in summer, as a golden rule.
So, let's kick back and have a chat, relax, just you and I,
Paddle some, and scud about, and let out a gladsome sigh
Oh joy, those lazy hazy days of summer, at last have come,

Sometimes, we would like to sail away, yet are never sure quite where,
Somewhere, where, we'd be content and never have a care...
Somewhere, where the wind blows soft and the nights are cool and sweet,
Where rainbows fill the bluest sky, where you and I can meet.
So, let's pack up this very day, the things we'd like to take,
And go aboard a schooner, for all we contemplate.
We'll gather up our memories, the knick knacks that we love,
Our favorite clothes and hats and books- leave all that needs be done...
Together, we'll be sure to berth, in cabins right next door,
With stairways out upon the deck, where we can see the shore.
We'll see the seagulls soaring high, drag our fingers in the brine,
Taste the salt upon our lips, lay back in warmth divine.
We'll play our favorite music and wander stem to stern,
Arm in arm, we'll chatter, laugh, more of each other learn.
As sun sets low, in orange, red, we'll watch the stars at play,
Gaze deep into the heavens and hear the dolphin spray.
Then, when the yawning overwhelms, we'll gather up our stoles,
Kiss the shadows, sweet goodnight, and take all we can hold...
Then, dream we shall, the night away, while rolling to and fro,
Safe within our Father's arms, where always we're at home.
As this, we'll keep and know forever, our life, our sail away,
Together, every moment on the deck, of His schooner every day

A summer time friend just somehow knows, when it is time for fun,
So comes with icecream cheer, a heart to gladly love.
A summer time friend will somehow guess, when the heat is setting in,
And send their loving thoughtfullness, to refeshen you within.
A summer time friend has that sixth sense, just when you need some prayer,
And lift you up to heaven's throne, just 'cause they always care.
A summer time friend will bring their smiles, to splash upon life's page,
To make a day feel wonderful, no matter what your age.

Set ourselves up near the pond, for the joy of lovely sounds
We'll hear the gurgling fountain, spraying up and down
And watch the cutest ducklings, swimming 'round and 'round
The sun will twinkle through the trees, dappled shade, to warm the soul
Just how we would like it, when we take our little stroll
We'll sip tea in the gazebo and have a little chat
Share delicious cookies, comment on this and that

It's summer now, the days are long as crickets chirp,
Where we belong, here perched upon this breezy porch
To warble soft our summer song.
It's summer now, let's laze about and gaze on water's cool
The pool awash with mirror hues, to ripple crystal jewels
It's summer now, the trees of shade bear weight of leaf and limb
Of shelter, weeping, rustling, hear the whisper of the wind
It's summer now, come rest with me within this shady nook
We'll sip and sigh o'er lemon tea and dawdle thoughts about a book

~ A Summer Farewell ~
I heard it's soft whisper passing by. the fading of it's glow
As I gently waved goodbye, to the summer I had known
I felt a little sad, as its twilight twinkled dim
I felt the warm and pleasant memories, that I had tucked within
I heard the white birds cry, as the autumn winds began to blow
Forcing summer's friends to flee away, leaving them to fend alone
But as I pondered, I knew I would re-visit, God's warmth will always bring me here
After saying hello to spring, my place will keep until next year
I stood up then, my heart prepared to go, and as I turned it pierced my soul anew
How glad I am He keeps you close forever,
I will never say goodbye to you.

~ Goodbye Our Sunny Friend~
The summer time is ending, it's time to say goodbye,
To beach and swims and picnics, to blue and cloudless skies.
It's time to pack away the sunhat, bicycle,
Farewell the summer cabin, the cookouts so delightful.
It seemed so quick this year, the lemonades and holidays,
We didn't want to bid it go, nor see the flowers fade away.
So I am thus relieved, that some things never change
Like you, my dearest friend God gave to be the same.

Or a tiny piece of downy fleece that clings to cloud afar.

And then, at night, God's sparkly light, that mantles Milky Way.
But these are just wild dreams, so I'll send you love my friend;
I'll clasp your hand, you'll understand, the things I left unsaid.
