Gardening.... ♪ Paul Cardall - Sacred Nature-utube.♪
God gave to us His garden,
to tend with tender care To bless us with His fragrance, the more of Him to share. We see Him in each flower, each petal, tendril, leaf And know that He is gentle... by every blossom sweet Savouring His vegies, herbs and fruity treats We know that He created them, just for us to eat. He gave us the delight of planting for design Merely for the pleasure of growing the divine. Derry's heart Poems © July 2012 Vital video -Back to eden film.com |

If you go to a tyre store, eg a farm type one- they will probably give you old tyres,
Maybe run two to three close to one another in a stair like style and make them into a water fall
(could use smaller ones).-- Use a saw to cut the top rim off.
Drape in a plastic liner..or re-use an old vinyl swimming pool for the liner.
Add a log, large rock or rock pile, for small creatures/birds to get out if they fall in.
(PS -you can also use tyres for a herb garden.)

We DID it!! - we had old tyres tucked behind a tank.
We placed metal racks (I had collected :) and old carpet under each tyre, to hold the soil in.
We painted the tyres to match our garden,
Venetian brick red for top and bottom layer and dusty light blue for middle layer,
We have a straight row, and needed 2 small logs at back - to hold up second row
4 tyres across base, 3 across middle, 2 across top, and a dusty blue plant pot top centre of the 2.
as I didn't have a small tyre.
The middle gap is very small, I tucked some bulbs in there.
I can't plant spring flowers- as it's summer and I wanted the tyres to fill the hottest garden
against the back wall of house,
so I have sun hardy plants in each tyre and I found garden ornaments to add character.
In spring I shall plant some petunias

and white alyssum here and there.

Craft a hanging bird bath. Acrylic or plastic easily drilled in three spots to anchor a hanger. Cable, chain link, or strong twine will make a perfect hanger. Basic S-hooks, or screw-eye hooks for attaching the hanger. Use a simple, three-point suspension. |

How to attract Frogs Here's a few ideas to attract frogs to your pond. 1. Provide easy access to the water, with sloped sides and smooth rocks. 2. Have as little disturbance and splashing fountains as possible. Frogs like quiet and still water. 3. Don't have fish. They will prey on the frogs, tadpoles and eggs. 4. Add plants in and around your pond. Natives are best! These provide cover, shade, protection and food for frog prey. 5. Don't keep your pond too clean. Organic matter creates natural conditions, and feeds the frog prey. 6. Place a couple of clay plant pots, on their side and partly buried, to provide extra shelter and shade. Remember frogs like it damp and cool, and also need places to hide from predators. 7. If you have dogs and cats, try to limit their access to the pond area. 8. Frogs are very sensitive to pollutants so avoid using garden chemicals in your yard that might ultimately hurt the frogs. |
"Pleaching or plashing was common in gardens from the late Middle Ages until the 18th century.

Indoor-tabletop-water-garden
Here's what you will need f or your very own table-top water garden: - A glass vessel, bowl, wide-mouth vase etc. - Water plants such as taro, water lettuce, water hyacinth, duck weed, fairy moss etc. - Plastic pots shorter than the height of your glass vessel - Assorted rocks- Potting soil- Charcoal bits- Mosquito fish (optional)- Pure water Place the plants in plastic pots and add soil. Pack soil down and cover with pebbles. Line the base of the vessel with charcoal to help against odors. Cover with pebbles. Fill the vessel with pure water; eg rain water, reverse osmosis water, or distilled. Place the potted plants into the vessel. Some loose soil may escape the pot- scoop it off top of water, and add more rocks to the potted plant. Pull off any dead roots from the floating water plants, and give them a good rinse before adding to the bowl. |
