~ God's Tiny Little Friend ~
Robin - Brittany, France
A little bird came, sat by me, so close, within the tree,
Cocked his head, hopped to and fro, and chirped contentedly.
I didn't know, why he should come, why he might visit me,
But, this I knew, 'twas very precious, I thought so gratefully.
And then I smiled, my God should send, to me, His little friend,
I felt more love, more hope, delight, than I could comprehend.
For little birds, made by His hand, are purely of God's heart,
So when one comes, all heav'n they bring, of God alone, impart -Thus blessed, I smiled, my God should send,
to me, His special little friend,
I felt enriched, embraced, enamoured so,
Yes, on my God I can depend.

~ Come, Dance My Little Pretty ~
So delightful are the birds God made, The sweetest friends of all, With their tender little touch of love, And their joyful call. He sends them near to say hello, Whenever we are low, They come up close to dance a jig Just to say... God knows! And there among the leaves so green, Fluttering their tails, A flock will chirp their happy song, Such pretty wings to flail. And in the freshness of the dawn In the first warm rays of light, How glad they are to be alive, With song to banish night. Come, dance my little pretty, Come, sing to me God's tune, Come, share with me your loveliness, Don't fly away too soon. Soft Whispers from Derry's Heart Poems © 2002 [email protected] |
~Your Sweet Calling ~
Oh, little bird, be nurtured By garden seeds divine, God made for your own pleasure He formed for you to find. Come, take them in your little beak And bear the life away, Carry it to far off places To grow another day. Oh, little bird, fulfill Your sweet calling from on high, To take the life of Jesus Everywhere He guides. Go, take life giving treasure Where e'er the Father leads, There to drop it, as desired Where life there has a need. Spread joy, just as He wills, Then sit, and gladly sing, For God will water, there to grow The life you're made to bring. Soft whispers from Derry's Heart Poems © Sept 2009 [email protected] |

If you could see yourself as I (As I can sitting here with you in view, as I love to do...) See you with my heart, Then you would never wonder why I pop in for a visit, just to check on how you are. If, you could see, just as I do, (While passing by your perch each day, with all I'd like to say...) How beautiful you are, Then you'd understand just why I see you where I am, always with my heart. |
Oh, if you ever could see you,
(As I cock this way and that, from my own point of view...) Oh my, you will never see the special friend I do, So you're left to wonder why I want to come, just to be with you. Why do you twitter so? What is it that you say?
You chatter to each other, all throughout the day.
Do you sing for Jesus? Did He give your song,
to delight in your enjoyment, that to Him belongs?
None of you can topple, without His seeing eye,
He watches every one that lands, so gently from the sky.
Just today, is all you know, to fret is not your style,
But though you soar upon the heights, your life is so fragile.
You take no worries for tomorrow, you do not sow or reap.
You build no barns to store your seed, for there is none to keep.
Your plumes just bloom without a fuss, you only need to preen, with no call to fret for more, as God knows all you need.

~ A Touch Of Heaven Come ~
Here I sat so lonesome like Snuggled all amongst a tree When a li'l birdie sang to me But, her I couldn't see There am I, a searching high In search of pretty song In quandary where the sound, I hear so loud and strong I cry, come show, oh pretty one Peering all about You're there somewhere I know- Why won't you flit on out But, soon her pretty sound Sets me all in sleepy daze, Propped there I...was it forever With such a peaceful gaze And, then she stops, bolt up I sit Disappointment gripping me Oh, where the lovely one That I can never see Then all a moment, there I spy Her feather, bright of wing, Oh, oh, I gasp, do not me leave don't ever cease to sing My heart, my soul, you're all a gift A touch of heaven come, to very sweetly sing to me The joy of Jesus' love Soft whispers from Derry's Heart Poems © 2008 [email protected] |

I heard a pretty melody The call of pretty lark, It sounded like my special friend In song within the park. I know 'twas of your loving heart I knew so straight away, The very tone of your own voice Came wafting all you say. The warmth of tender murmer With touch of gentleness, Sweet lilt of morning wonder That comes to only bless. Oh, the freshness of a zephyr The freedom of a bird, Such softness of a feathered wing The sound, of you I heard. In the hush of evening light My garden fills with birds, I watch behind my window, My heart is full of words. So, I whisper softly to them, Welcome to my place, Fill yourselves with all you need, Whatever suits your taste. Today I filled the bird bath, For you to flit right in, Splash about, dance to your tune Refresh your pretty wings. I love to see you play, To find a place to rest, I hope you find a perfect branch To build a cozy nest. I too, have a loving heart Who gazes down on me, He loves to dress His garden, To give me all I need. He starts my day with sunshine, And says, 'Welcome to my world' Tenderly opens wide His Hand, All His beauty to unfurl. ~ Holding Tight ~
Have you ever watched a bird asleep Perched daintily, but never toppling, And wondered how it stays Safely there, without falling. The secret is the leg tendons God made to lock in tight, While the legs are bent the claws grip, So they can't fall down at night. The claws will not unlock Until the knees move just slightly. The bended knee, is the secret key That holds them very tightly. From sleeping birds, we learn the secret Of how to never slip, It is the knee bent low in prayer, That maintains a lasting grip. Fastened then to all that lasts. We're held to God in prayer, Trusting that He holds us tight, In His forever care. ~ In A Gilded Cage~
Now, who would think it a better plan, for a little bird to be,
trapped in a lonely barren cage, with naught of worth to see.
Trapped inside from the sun's rich glow, where he has known the light,
No more to fly in a continuous sky, with countless friends in flight.
Kept away from the softest clouds, no more to soar on heights,
Unable to control the turn of day, or thrill in sheer delights.
For someone chose to put him there, the cage door tightly barred,
Crouched down, cold, confined, his life so surely marred.

Crouched down, cold, confined, his life so surely marred.
He'd hankered long for all he'd known, but wishing is long passed,
For now he only sees with heart, with nothing else to grasp.
For now his sight's on wonder far, he stares beyond the bars,
Yonder, where the peaceful breeze, rustles high among the stars.
The warmth of the Son for him now shines, as heaven's become his own,
He finds a sweeter beauty now, than in other heights he's known.
Because of the cage of deep despair, because of the clip of wing,
His heart o'erflows in freedom's joy, with throat compelled to sing.
Though gate's released, and swinging wide,
his soul is now at rest,
for he has found the song of life...
That nothing can suppress.

~ Song Birds ~
Two little birds met up one day, sweet little birds, to sing away
What to-do, finding food, as gladly they played,
With wings all a-flay, then up high they flew, singing prettily for you
Jesus loves you divine. so never to mind
There's all here in heaven, for you to find,
where we fly so high, near Him in the sky
We know He is true, He made us for you
He's as near as your heart, in the love He imparts
Be hushed in Him, in all that He is
Don't fret what you bear, for God's love is there
He's right where you are, He never departs
Oh, listen, our song, will tell you of Him,
How He cares for us all, and only blessing He brings
Look up then anew, He's smiling on you
Look now be loved, then with us you'll sing
