~ Ten Thousand Angels Cried ~
Was it ten thousand angels, that stood to block the sun,
While our Lord Jesus died, as God's beloved Son.
Was it all of heaven's host, that screened the Father's face,
While Jesus took the blame, bearing our disgrace.
Was it their silver tears, rained softly in the dark,
While our sin crushed the lamb of God, to break the Father's heart.
Was this the twelve legions of angels, Jesus would not call,
To save Him from the chosen pain, the piercing of our thorn.
Did they beat their mighty wings, to shake death's hardened core,
As God split the temple curtain, so we'd know His love forever more.
Is it these ten thousand thousand angels, who now worship at the throne,
Rejoicing as the risen Lord, brings all His precious children home.

Jesus said..Do you think I cannot call on my Father,
and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels
But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled
that say it must happen in this way” Matthew 26:53, 54
Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels,
numbering thousands upon thousands,
and ten thousand times ten thousand.
They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders.
Revelation 5:11

~ Above The Pain ~
Each stripe You bore, You wore my stain
Where thorns pressed deep, my guilt was laid
You chose to stay, above the pain - When darkest night,
veiled love from sight... You held my soul, You gripped it tight
While mocking played, cold accolade, my eternal reign,
you sought to claim... Each word betrayed,
You then forgave... Sin gouged Your frame, cruel ruts of blood... Each wound stung,
with deepest love
Cold hatred judged, Your life to take... As vile spit raged,
upon Your face, Your eyes of love were in my place
When cruel spear slashed, to slit Your flesh
Your love spilled o'er, my life to bless
With writhing thirst, Your head raised high
In loudest voice impelled to cry....
My God, My God forsake Me, WHY! Each wrenching throb, my life was not
'Til Your blood stilled, the wrath of God
With lungs engorged, You gasped for breath,
Wild fever seethed, gangrene's infest
While insects crawled upon your flesh
Your Father turned, sin reigned unchecked
Each stripe You bore, You wore my stain
Where thorns pressed deep, my guilt was laid
You chose to stay, above the pain - When darkest night,

Earth shook with death, the curtain
rent
Your body crushed, while drenched in prayer,
Compelling love, impaled You there
No other love can e'er compare... To win the fight o'er sin, alone
You bought my soul - unstained - to own
Your spirit raised one final call - Great exultation, now Your joy
The victory won, death was no more... All those who come, receive
You give Your life, to keep, to live and breathe
Your purity, from birth 'til end... You sacrificed, to take me then,
With You above, to now ascend - To live Your power, Your endless life
In Spirit raised, to heavenly light
Can I perceive, now see my sin... I broke Your law, I tortured Him
Dear Lord, forgive, I bow to cleave
You bore my hell, on that cruel tree
You took my death, You died for me

"Death has been swallowed up in victory."
"Where, O death, is your victory? - Where, O death, is your sting?"
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God!
He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. - 1 Corinthians 15:54-57

~ Crown Of Thorns ~
Jesus cried out in the garden... Oh Father, not My will but Thine
And we are left to wonder, what great pain had filled His mind
If, He was all prepared from birth..and, already was alone
No friend to offer comfort, no-where to call His home
What more grief now tore His heart, to sweat great drops of blood
And cry in deepest grief, in agony of love
Enduring man's cruel judgement, the mocking, whips and rod-
Now, the cruelest separation... Rejection by His Father God
When He hung there on the cross, He was already despised by man
But, now to bear man's deprivation,
meant letting go His Father's hand
Jesus cried out in the garden... Oh Father, not My will but Thine
And we are left to wonder, what great pain had filled His mind
If, He was all prepared from birth..and, already was alone
No friend to offer comfort, no-where to call His home
What more grief now tore His heart, to sweat great drops of blood

Now, the cruelest separation... Rejection by His Father God
When He hung there on the cross, He was already despised by man
But, now to bear man's deprivation,
meant letting go His Father's hand
Alone there, He would hang, with no comfort for His soul
No God to call in prayer... The most alone of all
It was never fair His righteous heart, should take the judgement of our God
But no other had that love for us, to feel the cruel rod.
He let Himself be scorned, to wear that mocking crown
He alone took all our sin, no other could be found
Now in Him we are embraced, we will never- like He, be rejected all alone..
And one day I will gaze upon that precious face,
With scars that should have been my own.
That blood stained crown is gone,
For no more a wreathe of thorns, is pressed within that precious brow
He bears the utmost honour, the Crown of all Crowns now

~ The Tender Heart ~
I ponder why He was nailed to that tree, why was He hated so, Why the laughter at His meekness, and such derision shown. Why the plot until His utter end. Why aim only to destroy, Why twist His loving words- with blame, the cruel ploy. Where was the notion nurtured to plan this brutal terror, For such a tender heart - without perceiving error. What was the driving force to silence loving grace, Why all the cruel venom, when only love was on His face. Why drive gentle Jesus to His knees, a crumbling bleeding mess. Why thrust the dagger in so deep, then twist it in His chest. Where does man get all this fury, this bitter angry hate, Why can't it be stopped, why doesn't it abate. Who can stop men in their tracks, defeat the cruel enemy, melt the harsh, the cold, the pride and quell the enmity. What has that much strength. What has that much power. What can melt the heart of man, and make him meekly cower. Only a slaughtered lamb could suffice, only the shedding of His precious blood, Can defeat the dominion of raging sin and terminate the seething flood. If we discover and confess our part in this, then new life He will impart, When His grace has covered all our sin, We receive His tender heart. Soft Whispers from Derry's Heart Poems © 2003 [email protected] That if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. - Romans 10:9 |
Isaiah 53:4 Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered Him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted.
5 But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open his mouth; He was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so He did not open his mouth.
8 By oppression and judgment He was taken away....
For he was cut off from the land of the living - for the transgression of my people He was stricken.
9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in His death,
though He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth.
10 Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush Him and cause Him to suffer,
and though the LORD makes His life a guilt offering, He will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the LORD will prosper in His hand. 11 After the suffering of His soul,
He will see the light of life and be satisfied;
by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and He will bear their iniquities.
~ With Crimson Red ~
What was the eternal word - Our Lord wrote on that day
As His torturous death unleashed - What did His blood convey
What truth did He inscribe - In love that flowed so free
When He chose to write His blood - Across the sinful heart of me
With His own loving hand - He unfurled the promise of His soul
And wrote life by His spirit - With blood to make me whole
The issue of His beloved heart - He shed to set me free
With that cry "Father forgive them" - He wrote His perfect love for Me
In crimson He inscribed my name - In heaven's book of life
By His own precious blood - My heart is purified
Oh Lord, of Calvary love - When Your pure blood was shed
You wrote eternity on my soul
For me,
You wrote it down in red

~Light of the
world~
From infinity of uncreated light, the angels watched Him leave, Still downward through the galaxies, another life to live. He laid aside His glory, the glory of His crown, He left behind His throne, He wanted to come down. Descending from the height, His radiance depleted, Stepping from infinity, for death to be defeated. He knew His destination, a speck of tiny land Only He could enter the destruction planned by created man. He landed on the dark side, for He arrived at night, Where the darkness exploded into glory, with such angelic light. To the dark He came with heart of grace, Then His radiance exposed the sin, of wanting gold and glory But rejecting all of Him. He knew that men would hunt Him, down within the night, To extinguish deep compassion, to kill the purity of right. With perfect love, He chose that death to bring life to the hearts that fight, So He can take back to His glory All those who see the light. ~ Called Into Light ~
When our Lord Jesus died, we died that day
with Him....
All that we were, with all our sin He swept away
The day He wept and died, in place of you and I
And on the day He rose again, we then - rose to live in all He is,
when our old way we would confess.
We have His joy day after day, for Jesus' love has come to stay
For if our sin is dead with Him, it can't be ours to grieve
What wonder then, we have to know
His love so great to bear away, all our past, our sin and woe
To give us hope, a heavenly home, all fear
forever gone, we are made pure, washed crystal clear
With life transformed to freely be
Called into light,
that we were born to see

The believer's death with Christ upon His Cross
means being crucified to the world in all its aspects,
to be one filled with the joy and glory of another world.
It is a delivering Cross - a Cross that liberates- to have the very foretaste of heaven,
as already sharers of the power of the age to come....
Glory to God for the Cross that severs us from the world's spirit,
and makes a way into another world- where all is peace and joy and love.

~ That Gentle Cry ~
When a baby's born, the world it smiles, the angels fill with glee,
A baby speaks of heavenly love, a touch of eternity.
Hope is carried in longing hearts, of the joy that he will bring,
Love begins with the light of life, for the breath that will take wing.
Soft is the touch, the need of such, takes hold upon the soul,
In that gentle cry so sweet, is the longing to be whole.
What hope fulfill, what need to meet, what emptiness within,
What burden bear upon the back, to struggle up that hill.
The baby's grown, He bore the load, there was no smile from men,
He felt the sting, the pain of sin, my death, He chose to know.
The lamb He came, to bring me life, was born, only to die,
His heart was filled with purest love, and chose to be defiled.
He suffered long, upon the cross, angels mourned in agony,
His death bestowed the Father's love, to give us of eternity.
Such hope He brought to longing hearts, the joy, that we now sing,
He gave to us, the light of life, and breath that will take wing.
Soft is the touch we need so much, takes hold upon our soul,
In that gentle call so powerfully sweet, He comes to make us whole.

~ Borrowed Death ~
It seemed there was no-where - For Jesus that day
So they borrowed a manger - His head there to lay
No room for the Christ child - No place there to stay
So they borrowed a home - Where the wisemen could pray
No village for Jesus - So to Nazareth they went
No money for travel - But gold, myrrh and incense
No workshop for Him - So Joseph's He used
But tools in His hands - Made furniture true
No food to eat - So He borrowed a meal
With two fish and rolls - His might was revealed
No home to keep - So where could He sleep
He had to borrow everything - Yet, all of it His
No life to live - For they wanted Him dead
So they borrowed a tomb - Just as He said
No death to keep - For He gave it away
He overthrew sin - In only three days
His were the people - That He came to love
His were the heartbeats - That gave Him the shove
His was the blood shed - That He came to give
He gave us His life - So we could live

Dying You Destroyed Our Death
~ The One I See ~
What did our Jesus feel, as He began in His mother's arms
Warmly concealed,...Safely sealed from any harm,
What was it He could feel...
As He grew encircled in that love, and unknown days began to peal,
While men pushed children from His kindness- 'No room for You Lord Jesus,'
How rejected did He feel...
Then as they knelt down at His feet, longing for a meal,
And ate abundantly of fish and bread, listening intently to His gentle voice,
What longing did He feel...
As they rushed to Him for healing, His comfort to appeal,
Only to rise upon their feet and walk away - a healthy day to meet,
What heartache did He feel...

And ate abundantly of fish and bread, listening intently to His gentle voice,
What longing did He feel...
As they rushed to Him for healing, His comfort to appeal,
Only to rise upon their feet and walk away - a healthy day to meet,
What heartache did He feel...
As with zeal they shouted hallelujah, laying branches on His way,
Then with inner heart revealed, as they cried out. 'Crucify'
How so very painful would that feel...
As He prayed there, all alone, and staggered up that chosen hill,
Every step of bleeding pain, weeping Father, help Me Your will fulfill,
What was that to feel...
As they hammered those loving hands, onto that rugged cross, to seal,
Him, as the guilty one, to suffer all our grief and pain,
What sorrow did He feel...
As the skies grew dark with
sin, and the Father turned away
Our sin, His Son to steal, for a purpose only God could understand,
How lonely would He feel...
Then as He cried out, It is finished, and let His spirit be released,
His body in the tomb, concealed,, to rest in God's abiding peace,
Oh, what fulfillment would He feel...
To rise victorious, enclosed in love to ever give,
With cry, 'I felt it all, I took your place
So spirit death you'll never feel
My dear one, now you'll know
My everlasting life to live.'

O Lord Jesus, as they beat You raw - And kicked You down upon that road
I wonder at Your heart - That made You rise to bear my load
What passion in Your soul - When no-one understood
Alone, You found the strength - To crawl with love upon that wood
I imagine how You staggered - Your manhood fully crushed
But step by step Your love - Proved more than just enough
From the tender age of twelve, You knew - How each day might fill with dread
But You gave each breath to only live - This cruel painful death
Thus with each step You whispered - Only of Your love for me
No moment of Your life You breathed - Except to set me free
Take me then, Lord Jesus - I cannot live now as my own
With love like this, to give me all Your life
is all I want to know

To the CROSS I look. To the CROSS I cling.
Of its suffering I do drink. Of its work I do sing.
On it my Savior, both bruised and crushed,
showed that God is LOVE, and God is just.
At the CROSS You, beckon me, draw me gently, to my knees and
I am,lost for words so, lost in LOVE I'm, sweetly broken, Holy surrender!
What a priceless gift: undeserved life have I been given, through Christ crucified.
You've called me out of death.- You've called me into life.
I was beneath Your wrath,
now through the CROSS, I'm reconciled.
At the CROSS, You beckon me, draw me gently, to my knees and
I am lost for words, so lost in LOVE,- I'm sweetly broken, Holy surrender!
In awe of the CROSS I must confess, - How wondrous Your redeeming LOVE
And how great is Your faithfulness!
Broken for You...I'm broken for You, my Lord.
Jesus...All that's left,
I am sweetly broken.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His One and Only Son,
that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have Eternal life."
(John 3:16)

Long ago He blessed the earth -
Born older than the years And in the stall the cross He saw - Through the first of many tears A life of homeless wandering- Cast out in sorrow's way The Shepherd seeking for the loss - His life the price He paid Love crucified arose- The risen One in splendor Jehovah's sole Defender- Has won the victory Love crucified arose And the grave became a place of hope - For the heart that sin and sorrow broke Is beating once again Throughout Your life You've felt the weight - Of what You'd come to give To drink for us that crimson cup - So we might really live At last the time, love and die - The dark appointed day That one forsaken moment when - Your Father turned His face away "Michael Card" Crucified and laid behind the stone You lived to die, rejected and alone- Like a rose trampled on the ground You took the fall and thought of me Above all "Michael W. Smith" It wasn't nails that held Jesus to the cross It was His love |
Do you know that Jesus loves you?
Do you know that Jesus cares? To Him, you are a treasure. You’re a precious gem so rare. With life you’re disillusioned. You feel so trodden down. But to Jesus you are royalty, And He has for you a crown. Do you know Him as your Savior? Do you know Him as your friend? If not, let me introduce you, And your new life can begin. All you need to do is trust Him, And believe He died for you. That He lives and reigns forever, And He offers life anew. Your life will never be the same, Once He dwells within your heart. All your sins will be forgiven, And from His mind they will depart. Never again to be remembered, For all stain of sin is clean. Your past is covered by His blood, Only His righteousness is seen. You’ll no longer be disillusioned. You’ll no longer feel trodden down. You’ll now be looking to Heaven, For the day you’ll get your crown. You will be a new creation. Those around will be amazed. So relate how Jesus changed you, And give Him all the praise. ~unknown author~ |
IT IS FINISHED
"Jesus said,"It is finished!"
And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit." JOHN 19:30
"God always finishes what He begins (Phil. 1:6). God never speaks a word
without ensuring that it comes to pass (Isa. 55:11). Christ is both the Alpha and the Omega,
the beginning and the end (Rev. 1:8, 17). Christ is as much at the end of His work as He is at its beginning.
Jesus was given an enormous mandate. He was to live a sinless life,
remaining absolutely obedient to His Father. Even the manner of His death
was to fulfill numerous prophecies that had been foretold in Scripture
(Matt. 26:24, 31, 54, 56; 27:9, 35; 46; John 19:28, 36-37).
Yet, despite the extremely complex assignment Jesus received from His Father,
He could shout triumphantly from the cross, "It is finished!"
Christ now resides within each believer. His assignment today
is to complete God’s will in each Christian. He is just as determined to do this in us
as He was to complete God's will for Himself.
