Hold down Alt key while typing calculator numbers on right.
  • 2. Works differently on Apple keyboard. Press alt/option key and any number or letter & you'll figure out the result eventually - combination keystrokes with shift have different results as well
  • 3. When typing in Microsoft Word
Hold down ALT key plus key in the letters IS
and it will bring up all of your symbols and numbers  w/choices of what font you want it in.

Ted.com/talks/sherry_turkle_alone_together
As we expect more from technology, do we expect less from each other?
Sherry Turkle studies how our devices and online personas are redefining human connection and communication — and asks us to think deeply about the new kinds of connection we want to have.
( note - we are never alone when we know God is our dearest ever present friend)

“This media we call social is anything but, ie when we open our computers...
This Is A Video EVERYONE Needs To See-YP poem on it.
it finishes so ironic --
I had myself a ponder re it..
I think we can use anything like this for benefit or no,
I am glad coz I have found ( here in this metropolis), a way to find and be friends with my
dear family/cousins/USA friends/sisters that I would never have known without this>
I wrote letters for years, and the post box remained quite empty, for letter writing is not a fav hobby of most.
and I rang, visited, helped, volunteered and got too exhausted.
~ On Trains/buses, it shocked my country girl-ness, how dis-connected the hordes are.
They read newspapers/books, they were so alone,
BUT - cell phones/Mobiles are an ever present friendship / portable, in a lonely world of city life -
I am thinking then that cells/mobiles mean that folks are NOT so alone,
for they can talk/connect to friends & family while in this big lonely city,
(where people had their noses stuck in a book/newspaper)
~ thus cells/mobiles became an escape from aloneness.

So I ponder that Technology is not the problem, its something else ie.
Kids are stuck in their rooms, playing 'puter games - coz they are already alone.
ie is there a mum at home with play/imagination/joy--
Is the playground lonely and hurtful.
Relationships are hard with the competition, rivalry, name calling, pecking order,
verbal and physical abuse, lack of manners.

Thus I think if we ARE with people we love, it is wise to be emotionally present with them,
but when we feel alone and relationship is NOT present,
then its wiser to use a mobile, a puter to make life happier/comforting, connecty.
(tho keeping them charged, paid for is a constant routine so I don't have one.)
The violent game play is the greatest danger to the mind I think,
causing the reclusive / addiction to the dark world..

Another great concern, is that toddlers are on it - and not learning how to patiently,
quietly, discover, process, imagine, role play, develop motor skills,
1. It is used as babysitting
2. They feel like their child will be left behind at school
Thus I think its very wise to not let them learn ipads etc til at least age 4,
so they can learn real life maths, english, communication, play, etc etc,
All the experts doing research, say a child is LESS intelligent if they use tech.
We can teach them to be excited by what we are excited about,
eg swings, parks, bush walks, riding, heaven, creation, spring, snow, boardgames, big empty boxes,
crafts, scented markers, lego, books, mudpuddles, handstands, cartwheels & elastics,
beach, lake, creek, picnics and cook outs.
Its all about balance,
Tech is here to stay, and I think many folks, and YP's are pondering re it.
Life/history does have phases and hobbie pursuits and then something else will develop in society.
eg YP connect and hug and share reality with great aplomb.
- eternal benefit is the key -
we personally seek WWJD huh
