~ Beside The Door ~
A Front porch is a haven, between the world and me Somewhere I can contemplate Just how it ought to be The front fence and the flowers, sweetly hedge me in, So I can view it all Before the day begins I hear the gentle zephyrs, stirring in the leaves I feel the warmth upon my face The humming of the bees I gaze into the heavens, the clouds, the pretty sky I do not seek the questions But close my eyes and sigh I hear the roar beyond, the ways of beast and men Peacefully I rock With Jesus, my best friend. And thus I am content, I couldn't ask for more Than to sit here, close to heaven Just beside His door. Derry's Heart Poems © April 2013 |
"Find some quiet, private time, just you and the Lord Jesus every day. Allow yourself to slow down
and relax. Take a mental break, talk everything over with Him. You'll gain the benefits of a
quiet mind and an inner smile."

~ A Front Porch ~
A front porch is a window From where we see divine, Gazing out to see Beyond the call of time A front porch is a dear old friend Cozy, comfy, soft That we have chatted with for years And visited so oft. A front porch is a shelter From winds that chill us through Somewhere to draw aside To secure a better view A front porch is a gathering place To sip tea and converse Mull upon the world's events Or write a cursive verse. A front porch is a guardian It holds such secrets close The years of life and family That we enjoyed the most. Derry's Heart Poems © 2013 |
~ Our Peaceful Porch ~
You and I sit, so peacefully together On our own sunny porch Being as we are, you and I In the everlasting we are living for. Your kindness unfurls gentle warmth In all you say and do God worked His very best When He made a friend so true. I think I must be especially blessed And now I know 'tis true As God chose that I should have Such a lovely friend as you. ~ On The Front Porch ~
Today as usual, you were on my mind Hovering in my thoughts Singing in my heart- as you do So much so, I ought to tell you now, today- let you know I am thinking about you Like I often do I felt you close, your hat your book, left here upon my bench content to say all you meant...then a pretty little butterfly came, intent to stay..... Soft whispers from Derry's Heart Poems © 2007 Where do you come....how do you know what is the beauty of eternity you bear on wings of care |
Sitting on my Front Porch-
by Janet Martin Sitting on my front-porch with loved ones at my knee Drinking in the music of the twilight's melody Tiny sip of glory is this evening paradise Sitting on my front-porch as my Maker paints the skies Hummingbird and firefly and busy honey-bee
And little children's laughter joins in Heaven's melody Tiny splash of paradise has dropped from Heaven's brush Landing on my front-porch in this sacred evening hush Lemon tea or lemonade either one is fine Sitting on my front-porch 'neath the shadow of His vine |
Somewhere in the valley,
I can hear the cattle low The pasture-land lies golden-bronze beneath the sunset's glow Faintly I can hear the church-bells chiming down the street Beyond the noisy traffic and the muffled busy feet Sitting on my front-porch, this my humble palace grand Apartheid to an orchestra led by Heaven's hand Sonny, grab your silver spoons
so you can keep the beat I'll play my harmonica while sister taps her feet Standing on His promises, praising Christ the Lord Sitting on my front-porch I desire nothing more ~ Janet Martin~ |
~ My Friend's Front Porch ~
