~ May Your Blessings Be More ~
As you give love, this very day, give love and all it's joy away There's nothing will return you more, to lift your soul in every way As you give comfort, on this day, with all God's love, in all you say There's only grace will come to bless, while you be set to watch and pray As you give peace, in loving ways, with all His love, with open heart Then blessing will outnumber more, than all you ever had before Soft whispers from Derry's Heart Poems © 2008 heartwhispers@iinet.net.au Poetry from the Heart May God grant you many years to live,
For sure He must be knowing The earth has angels all too few And heaven is overflowing. May God bless you on this special day and always! ~Unknown~ |

~ The Cobbler's Apprentice~
When I were but a tiny lass, my favourite fairy tale to read,
'Twas of the cobbler a-mending shoes, so poor he was a-feared.
He had no coins to rub together to make another pair of boots.
While folks about, true nagged him sore,
to get a move on with their shoes.
But, then per-chance, secret plot a foot, wee men crept in by dark of night
Without no light, but might of skill, they toiled and hammered dawn until,
they vanished...just vamoosed
As soon as every shoe was built.
With a tap-tap steady beat, the needles flew upon those boots
Tick tack, went the little hammers, as mischief twinkled in the crew
for with no one there to view,
they crooned aloud with lilting voice
and sipped a steamy brew.....
Until one day they disappeared, with out no more to-do.
How pleased the villagers were of course, for ne'er a'fore, such stitching fine be seen,
Thus the cobbler's debt was gone for good-
All owing to the mysterious
wee men in coats that gleamed.
Oh, such a thing for my wee heart to dream, of the wonder it is to bless,
So many loving deeds done behind the scenes-
such secrets
that we never need confess.

FIRELIGHT WILL NOT LET YOU READ FINE STORIES
BUT IT’S WARM AND YOU WON’T SEE THE DUST ON THE FLOOR.
IF YOU HAVE ONE PAIR OF GOOD SOLES
ITS BETTER THAN TWO PAIRS OF GOOD UPPERS.
GOD'S HELP IS NEARER THAN THE DOOR.
THE HARD GATHERING GETS THE WIDE SCATTERING.
IT’S FOR HER OWN GOOD THAT THE CAT PURRS.
MAY PEACE AND PLENTY BLESS YOUR WORLD
WITH JOY AND LONG ENDURES.
THE LONGEST ROAD OUT IS THE SHORTEST ROAD HOME.
MAY GOOD AND FAITHFUL FRIENDS BE YOURS
WHEREVER YOU MAY ROAM.

~ St Patty's Great Grandpappy wisdom~
Come sit with me on St Patty's day my lad for I have a bunch of good old love to give.. For you to find the more, to seek, I found it isna' wise to go beyond, where it be of good to reach, or 'tis true that you may stumble down and fall, being tempted then to take the shortest route and miss your highest call. You needna' push too fast, as your heart ne'er keep the pace for shattered will be dreams to be a-comin' true, So go careful now, keep hold the truth that's pure, to remember all the hope you knew. Be sure, to ne'er let the wind blow clear away all that you treasure of divine. 'Tis imperative to hold firm, all the things that last for aye that are far more worth the climb. For it is not worth grippin' to such is passin' that'll be swept away, in swirlin' winds of time, They ne'er will matter in the end my lad in the heavenly Father's good design. But, most important, ne'er forget my lad, you are so very loved so don'na go a-listenin' to all the many lies, God made your soul complete, to live, you're so precious in His eyes. And now then, old Grandpappy says, there's the sweet surprise, A happy St Patty day for you and yours whene'er the sun doth rise. If I could pray your tears away arms hold you while you cry If I could make for you the brightest day send comfort for your sigh. If I could blow the clouds clear away Then you would ne'er be cold, If I could find the softest touch so true Cherub sweet, for you to hold. If I could sweep away every lurking fear For faith to bloom within your heart Then you could know abounding joy While walking on life's path. If I could fill your nights with peace And bless your life with lasting love, Tenderness would rain down 'pon you From the heavens up above. If I could take away your sorrow and put hope within your day, That means God would be inside your heart Where He will ever stay. Soft Whispers from Derry's Heart Poems © 2004 heartwhispers@iinet.net.au This 4th century prayer
is attributed to St. Patrick I bind myself today The power of God to hold and lead His eye to watch, His might to stay His ear to hearken to my need The wisdom of my God to teach His hand to guide His shield to ward The word of God to give me speech His Heavenly Host to be my guard. May you always have...
A sunbeam to warm you, Blessing to surround you, And a sheltering angel so nothing can harm you. Laughter to cheer you, Faithful friends near you, And whenever you pray... Heaven to hear you. May you have a song in your heart
a smile on your lips and nothing but joy at your finger tips!. |

~ My Wild Irish Rose ~
Let me tell you a tale of old afore when I Was a rambling and a roaming free Upon the heather way, I was a searching for my one true love To charm for ever and a day. Where could I but find a one Of illusive locks of raven hair, Of rosey cheek complexion Of tender skin so fair For the brave to be a having.. but ne'er do die or dare. But, her, I dreamt, for so I thought she would bear me up, on angel's wings To a land of beauty never seen. Well.. here I was one evening nigh I thought I had but spied her A running wildly through the glen, Her eyes alight as diamonds Her garment flutter' in the wind. I upped my pace, to follow when the mist enveloped shrouded...... and she ran fleeing from me then. The moonlight painted shadows flickered beneath the sighing tree Eerie in soft floating mist, I struggled through the grasping bracken Fearing rocks below, dark and hallowed Her footstep not to miss. The fog did lift, but oh so slightly as the clouds all scudded past the moon I saw the face, an angel glowing tipped up toward the sky to croon But, ne'er a moment soon. There, I spied perfection, light That cast a wondrous silhouette I gazed transfixed in sheer delight, Never more a feared In the still of that dark eerie night. My breath I held, I tried to call, When up the mist blew, all again I stumbled, sharp, I dropped and splayed. The moon was smiling at my folly, as on its path, it sailed away... So then, my heart love, was all gone be-sure, she vanished, ne'er a trace And I am left, but with the story Of the sweetest touch, amazing grace. Soft Whispers from Derry's Heart Poems © 2004 heartwhispers@iinet.net.au Blessing Of The Three
The Sacred Three, my fortress be Encircling me, come and be round My hearth, my home, fend Thou my kin And every sleeping thing within From scathe, from sin. Thy care our peace, through mid of night To light's release. Three is Ireland's number of blessing. Hence the Shamrock, of the clover family, was used by St Patrick to explain the mystery of the Trinity, the three leaves of the shamrock representing the Trinity (the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit). To this day the shamrock remains the national emblem of Ireland and is worn proudly by Irish people the world over on St. Patrick's Day |

~ The Story Of St Pat ~
'Twas fifteen hundred years ago, in Britain to a gaelic wealthy pair,
Maewyn "warlike" Succat, baptized Patrick, a baby boy was born, so fair.
But alas, at sixteen, only just a lad, Irish pirates kidnapped him away,
Raided his family of their hopes, by taking Pat to Ireland's bay.
For six long years he laboured there, a slave upon the hills of sheep,
All alone, he knelt down on his knee, in his heart he heard God speak.
With courage he sailed to Europe's shores, to learn the more about his Lord,
And thus prepared, came back to the Isle, to share God's love with every mile.
He'd bend to pick a three leaf clover, to tell of the God he knew,
Father Son and Holy Spirit, as he sought to teach all that was true.
Upon his death, Ireland was blessed, for he left behind great heritage,
Of churches, schools and colleges-
Thus it is said..by the beating of his drum
Of snakes, ol'e Ireland was rid!

Claddagh of fishing fame, Who made a sigils image for the fishermen A symbol very brave. It spoke for mighty power, upon the wild seas So was fashioned into golden rings, Ancestors to wear forever As memory of their kin.
