Black Tea Window Cleaner:
• Brew strong black tea. I used 3 bags of Irish breakfast tea to 8 oz boiling water.
• Steep and allow to fully cool, about an hour.
• Transfer cleaner to spray bottle or dip cotton cloth into solution.
• Clean and buff.
the tannic acid in black tea acts as a cleaning agent to dissolve dirt and grease, . For extra soiled windows, a second application of cleaner was needed, and a small bit of streaking did appear, but was quickly buffed out with a dry cloth. Overall, I think cooled black tea worked incredibly well, plus it smelled nicer than vinegar, plus, it's so non-toxic that I could actually drink my window cleaner. Definitely a winner. courtesy of Networx,

Itch Relief Remedies
You can beat the itch of bug bites by simply using things that you may have around the house, such as:
  • applying a paste made of baking soda and water to each bite
  • soaking in an Epsom salt bath
  • making a paste by crushing an Aspirin and adding a few drops of water or rubbing alcohol
  • dab on a bit of raw honey
  • rub on a little apple cider vinegar
  • try an ice pack to the area
  • mottle a few fresh plantain leaves and make a poultice
  • make a fomentation by using plantain leaves (basically infuse plantain in water, as you would if you were making tea, soak a clean cloth in the infusion then apply the warm, moist cloth on the bites)
Because each insect bite is different and our bodies react differently, don’t give up if something doesn’t work for you…just try something else.
A Recipe
All of the above remedies are great to use when we are home, but when we are on vacation, camping, hiking, or road-tripping…I need something a little more functional and convenient.
Here’s my solution!

The familiar "clean" scent of fabric softeners actually comes from a deceptively toxic blend of chemicals that have escaped regulation and are silently contributing to a number of health problems for unsuspecting consumers.
Thanks to the work of a few concerned scientists,
the dangers of these products are finally beginning to see the light of day.
First, dryer exhaust contains carbon monoxide, an odorless gas posing well-known health dangers,
depending on the concentration in which it's inhaled.
Consider this if your child's bedroom window is close to your dryer vent.
But detergents and fabric softeners are commonplace as well, and as your clothing dries,
these vapors are released into your house—and out into the neighborhood—in a chemical cloud.
The problem is, you are not exposed to single chemicals—you're exposed to blends of chemicals.
We have no knowledge of the toxic effects of these mixtures.

Steinemann - some chemicals are actually being shown to be more dangerous to humans at lower levels than at higher levels, a phenomenon that is turning our understanding of toxicity upside down.
click for -  Chemicals found in popular laundry products

Alternatives to dryer sheets and fabric softeners:
  • Dry your clothes naturally on indoor or outdoor drying racks.
  • Remove your clothes from the dryer before they're completely dry.
  • The remaining moisture helps prevent static cling. Use a drying rack instead.
  • Launder natural and synthetic fabrics separately, as the synthetics (nylon, rayon, etc.)
  • cause most of the static problems.
  • Several sites recommend placing a wad of aluminum foil in the dryer with your clothes to eliminate static cling.
  • For general cleaning, stick to the basics such as baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, lemon juice and vinegar.
  •  If your house has an odor, just open a window.

Homemade Laundry Detergent
To make about 4 mason jars full you will need:
6 cups Borax *
4 cups baking soda
4 cups washing soda **
4 cups Fels-Naptha bar soap (almost 2 bars)***
greatoakcircle.com/homemade-laundry-detergent
* Borax: hamzn.to/XbN2iT
** Washing Soda: amzn.to/U2uPxu
*** Fels-Naptha: hamzn.to/VLYnkE

Homemade Washing Soda
1. Fill a wide baking dish with baking soda.
2. Heat in the oven at 400 degrees until all the baking soda becomes washing soda.
Occasionally mix it so that this process happens faster and more uniformly.
eg 6 tablespoons baking soda on a metal baking pan, bake 30 minutes on 400°F
it loses it's luster and becomes a little grainy.
then it is washing soda - takes all oils and lotions out of the sheets and towels.
Also, use some in very hot water, with a little dish soap.
Stove vent grills, dipped in the solution, release grease immediately!
Aluminum, will dull, if in washing soda, too long, a strong solution will strip silver off silver plate, so take care.   Pennilessparenting/homemade-washing-soda

What are some of the things that make your toilet a health hazard?
Did you know using your toilet can lead to:

Specific muscles and organs in your body are compromised - and not relaxed for good elimination
unless in the full squating position.
In fact, patients with colon issues are often recommended (and sometimes required)
to squat as part of their healing protocol.
