~ Gentle Waters ~                                                                                   Music middle click ~♫  Stream ♫

The wheel it turns, it turns and turns, quite softly, it is hushed,
A little moan, a little flow- with only gentle love.
Crooning, murmuring, Masterful, it creaks,
Water splashing, cogs enmeshing- strong and very meek.
The wheel it turns, it gathers speed, but the little creek is smooth,
The flow picks up a pace- the cogs turn faster too.
Flowing wider, deeper, stronger, the little river churns,

Filling deeper, filling wider- the paddles ever turn.
Turning, turning, power burning, making good things there,
Grain is grinding, flour producing- meals to prepare.
The wheel it turns, time's passing by, still placid, flows the stream,
Gently flowing, always flowing- with waterwheel, a team.
Gentle waters keep it turning, steady is the pace,
Steady, rhythmic, round and round- set in the perfect place.

The wheel it turns, just as it's bid, it turns in peaceful love,
God sends the gentle water- from Him it always comes.
Gentle, gentle, love it flows, to power hearts each day,
Flowing under, over, hour by hour- His slipstream is the way.
The wheel, it turns, it never stops, God's gentle waters come
Running to eternity- the river of His love.

When I am sore beset, I seek some quiet place,
Some lonely brook or barren windswept hill,
And there in silence wait apart
Until I see again the smile upon God's face;
Until His presence floods me like the dawn,
And I can hear His whispered, Peace, be still,
And know the strength to do His will.....
I turn to take my load and find it gone.

~ A River Runs Through ~
Life may seem a valley, a struggle here below
Yet there is always hope, for the river ever flows.
Life may seem to go down under, with dark and shadowed view,
But there is more to know...a river's running through.

Life may seem to hit a wall, where depths are building up,
But the river will still overflow, high above the flood.
Life may seem the steepest climb, while longing for a drink,
But you can stoop to quench your thirst, there's a river in the grief.

Life may seem a barren walk, as plans go all askew,
But Jesus' living water always flows
He's the river running through.

I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys.
I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs.

 Isaiah 41:18
For this is what the LORD says:"I will extend peace to her like a river
Isaiah 66:12
They feast on the abundance of Your house;
You give them drink from your river of delights.
Psalm 36:8
Then the angel showed me, the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal,
flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

Revelation 22:1
Jesus answered,
"Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again,

but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst.
Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water
welling up to Eternal life."

~ River Of Life ~
Touch me, grasp me in the flow... Reach into the vast unknown
There is no mystery, I am always here, I am here for you alone
Touch me, you will see, as you feel life slowing down
There is no pit, too dark, unknown, I am all you need, I will catch you now
You may breakdown, for there is fear, but this is what you'll heed
That I am ever near, more near I cannot be, for My breath is all you're meant to breathe
The one you draw each day for me.... Is only when you lose your own
And then with joy you find my way, My promise yet I am, just as I say
The broken are the ones I mend, the contrite soul is mine to keep
There comes the light and then comes peace... You are my friend
Love cannot cease

No soul can be really at rest until it has given up all dependence on everything else
and has been forced to depend on the Lord alone.
As long as our expectation is from other things, nothing but disappointment awaits us.
Feelings may change, and will change with our changing circumstances;
work may come to naught; prayers may seem to lose their fervency;
promises may seem to fail; everything that we have believed in or depended upon
may seem to be swept away, and only God is left, just God, the God of all,
if I may be allowed the expression; simply and only God.

He'll be with us in the morning
And with us in the night
Relieve our pressing heartaches
And rest them from our sight.
He will be the needed comfort
Our joy and peace and light,
He will take our grief and sorrow
And sweetly make it right.
He will be the source of power
And guide our every step,
He will open doors or shut them
So there's no need to fret.

He will rest us in the turmoil,
and soothe each lurking fear,
He will tear down walls
that tower,
and dry up all our tears.
He will be our shade at noonday,
our refreshment in the heat,
He's our loving friend, our Saviour,
The Still Water that we need.
Derry's Heart Poems ©  2010

Be not troubled about those who are with you or against you, but take
care that God be with you in everything you do. Keep your conscience
clear and God will protect you, for the malice of humans cannot harm one
whom God wishes to help. If you know how to suffer in silence, you will
undoubtedly experience God's help. He knows when and how to deliver you;
therefore, place yourself in His hands, for it is a divine prerogative
to help men and free them from all distress.
Thomas a Kempis

~ To Taste Of River Water ~
I bend down in deep intent, with thirst upon my lips,
here in a glimpse of time, my story all behind-

With all the memories I miss
I stoop down to touch the water, to feel the ripples with my hand
I seek to dip into the river, my heart a-quiver-

as I feel the river for all man
I can see its flow before, and watch it rushing by my soul
Then I look and see it surging onward, a widening fjord-
where I'm so wanting to be whole
So, low I bend, down to its flow, to taste it where I stand
To have the life within my spirit, to truly know it-
That I may understand
I know the river represents, a cleansing deep within
Not just a fleeting taste, of endless wait-
but a washing of my sin
I cry, dear Father, take me, take of all I've been, fill me
with all Your loving traits, a new life in me make-
wash me clean eternally
Then bear me on Your river, float me to Your home
Carry me by Your love, until You come-
I tasted of Your river, please take me,

now I know.

Believe God's word and power more than you believe your own feelings and experiences.
Your Rock is Christ, and it is not the Rock which ebbs and flows, but your sea.
Samuel Rutherford

No joy on earth is equal to the bliss of being all taken up with love to
Christ. If I had my choice of all the lives that I could live,

I certainly would not choose to be an emperor, nor to be a millionaire,
nor to be a philosopher, for power and wealth and knowledge bring with
them sorrow. But I would choose to have nothing to do but to love my
Lord Jesus - nothing, I mean, but to do all things for his sake, and out of love to him.

Charles Haddon Spurgeon

~ Leaves In Water ~

Sometimes we fall, like leaves upon the water, but Lord, in You we put our trust
You sweep us all, securely held, above all that is corrupt
We are preserved, in You we're kept... Your depth of love divine

Beneath, upheld from murky shadows, in bouyancy sublime

The current of Your heart is set.... Oh, how we twirl within Your flow
Gently carried, swirling softly, held as Your very own
Your unfailing love, Your tender hand makes sure we're not alone
We float, we skim, set free to sail.. You're bringing us all home

It has been well said that no man ever sank under the burden of the day.
It is when tomorrow's burden is added to the burden of today
that the weight is more than a man can bear.

~ Mystical Waters ~

Hear the peaceful waters, lapping on the shore,
As you gaze into the calming depths, for all you're searching for.
God is already there, so close, offering amazing grace,
His gentle Hand is near to hold, look now into His loving face.
Rest in the shelter of His peace, draw of His sweet refreshing love,
For the treasures buried in His heart, will always be enough.

God is down in front. He is in the tomorrows.
It is tomorrow that fills men with dread. God is there already. All the tomorrows of our
life have to pass Him before they can get to us.

~ He Will Be... Enough ~
For a blessing we shall wait,
And while waiting in the waves, perseverance our behest,
Will there be enough.
Ah yes, the hush,  it comes, a calm repose - The water stills -  The spirit rests
A voice upon the wind of love...,

"I Am"
Relax in Me dear one,
I will be Enough.
