~ Tomorrow I May ~
Tomorrow I may walk on endless paths, with adventure somewhere there to find,
But today I might watch the sunset, for I know it can be mine.
Tomorrow I may walk along the path of pain, but yesterday that took too long,
So I shall not spend today as well, not listening for the song.
Tomorrow a surprise may arrive to fill my heart, so I shall prepare to see it now,
For if I am too overcome with care, I'll miss the delight I am to know.
Tomorrow I may strike an unknown fear, yet I shall not worry about that today,
For time is just too short, to fret it all away.
Tomorrow I may not have a dear one, for earthly ties can never last,
But if I free myself to love today
I'll have the warmth to treasure, forever in my heart.

~ Here With My Father ~
Creation whispers, listen, hearken to the wind, rustling the trees,
let leaves sway, fall, there is God and I.
Eagle soars, the sky his home, the cliffside stark, I cannot fly,
I feel the grass, beneath my feet, here, my God and I.
Rivers roar, the endless rush, flooding earth, parched,
I softly pray, secure in my Father God, am I.
Every day, from morning's dawn along the path,
till sunset red, in deepest night, alone-
in God's love am I.

~ Goodnight Dear Day ~
Goodnight beautiful sunshine, as you drift so far away,
Thank you for the gift you gave, of warmth to bless my day.
Goodnight rosey sunset glow, as you softly slip from sight,
Thank you for the awesome wonder, as you steal away the light.
Goodnight fluffy clouds, skimming out of view,
Thankyou for un-veiling stars, the darkness to subdue.
Goodnight velvet ocean, teasing all my senses, at my feet,
Thank you for the calmness of your ripples, little tickles very sweet.
Goodnight dear Father, everywhere, calling out to me,
In the glory of Your sunset, what a lovely day it's been.

Nothing is more memorable than a sunset.
One glimpse can be unexpected, momentary and fleeting,
yet conjure up a childhood summer beside a lake in the mountains...

~ Promise ~
Please don't forget to remember, my heart of love for you,
As you walk softly on the path of life, I pray for God to see you through.
Promise, you'll feel some comfort, on all the saddest days,
And know my smiles for you, are sent on sunshine rays.
Promise you'll remember laughter, to kiss on each tomorrow,
May Jesus hold you close, to soothe away the sorrow
Promise you'll find some beauty, as you rise upon each day,
For faith to conquer doubt, to hear what God will say.
Promise you'll enjoy each sunset, with all it's golden glow,
To lift your deepest thought, eternal joy to know.
Promise you'll find some courage, to look beyond the rain,
So every rainbow promise, lifts you above the pain.
Promise you'll reach to friends, to let them share their love,
And may angel's love protect you, I pray to God above.

~ Pink Sunset ~
Down under here in April, with my darling I did go For a little camping holiday, just him and I alone All in that April evening, along the beach we strolled Strolling in the twilight, a tender hand to hold Before us rose the sunset, all embracing in the west Golden tinges chestnut copper red God's glory at it's best Then as we'd walked quite far enough We paused just here to rest And as we turned what wonder We gasped at God's behest For there, to our surprised delight Indulgence for our eyes Pink, aglow, pink perfection in the east From beach up to the skies Pink glass upon the wavelets Pink flush within the sand Rose-pink to breathe in for our love As we walked back hand in hand Soft whispers from Derry's Heart Poems © 2007 [email protected] "Beauty, truth, friendship, love, and creation; these are the great values of life. We can't prove them, or explain them; yet they are the most stable things in our lives." ~Jesse Herman Holmes~ |
~ Pink Sunset Dreams ~
Sunset, but all is not over yet For, now the night has come The thoughts of day may be all done But now the time for dream's begun Pink dreams to fly into the night Within your lovely rest So dream, my dearest one, so dream Just dream as of the blessed Float by on clouds of pink delight Dream on in warmest love For beauty, truth and friendship's joy Is all that you'll be dreaming of Soft whispers from Derry's Heart Poems © 2007 [email protected] His love will walk where our feet cannot,

~ Nothing Stays The Same ~
We'd like to keep all that we have, a sunset's golden glow
A little moment, warm and tender, its loveliness to know
We'd like to hold fast to our heart, the quietness of dawn
A childhood's secret treasures, a baby that is born
We'd like to cherish as our own, the love that we have known
The son, the daughter, grandchild, that used to be at home
But, life moves on, with much to learn, of all God has in store
And thus we come to realize, with Him, there's always more
It may not be the same, as then, a difference settles in
Yet, in that change we come to know, a gentle peace within
So, all we've had to love, enjoy, can never leave too late or soon
The truth of it, makes who we are, for all He's called us to
In God a sunset's not an end, but a glimpse of more

~ Looking Forward, Looking Back ~
While gazing at a sunset, we think on strength of younger years
And wonder, how in life's walk, how will it be, later then, to fear,
Will our shouders stoop, depleted, hair be gone, all wispy grey
With sunset years decreasing power of limb, how will we face each day
And are we preparing now, our hearts, our minds for heaven
Filling up each day with love, to enjoy the more of then.
As we gaze on sunset's glow, reposed, retired, upon a seat
Wondering about the looks we bore, and if life feels complete
The past now tucked away, a mystery, the years of fight and grit
Achieving such of this and that, while we were young and fit
But, our heart is still the same, inside,
Still young, in love, Oh Lord, may we know Your life
So, renewed beyond the sunset years, we'll walk with You above

"Visit the morning, before the sun rises and then sets,
find the dawn, while it is, before the clouds descend and eyes are dim,
be still, with open hand to all God gives, while you have the mind to think upon.
Visit morning up above, and find the peace of everlasting love."

~ Would You ~
Would you wonder at the dawn, if the night was not so dark
Would you rest in sunset's glow, if the day was not so stark.
Would you cherish tender words, if harsh tones had never hurt,
Would you long for gentleness, if your soul had not been burnt.
Would you know the sweeter things, if the path had not gone sour,
Would you crave for love that's true, if you'd never had to cower.
Would you see with eyes that care, if no night had passed alone,
Would you know of barren souls, if you hadn't lost your own.
Would you reach out loving hands, if you hadn't lost your song
Could you see cold hungry eyes, if you hadn't seen what's wrong.
Would you seek for heaven's joy, if you'd never been bereft,
Would you crave to know of God, if there wasn't any death.
Would you search for childlike faith, if all hope had never frayed,
Would you look to see beyond, if youth was here to stay.
Would you need forever love, if you hadn't shed a tear,
Would you search until you found, if eternal life was here.

~ Twilight Paradise~
We may live within the twilight, but true love has found our heart,
We are held within a paradise, from God's love we'll never part.
We wait in mystery, wonder, for there is something else,
The joy of life in Jesus, a deeper passion felt.
We've shared such tender moments, walked through the fire of pain,
Thrilled with wondrous pleasure, and survived the chilling rain.
Intruders have been shunned, for loyalty to keep,
Though long have been the nights, when heartache stole our sleep.
On the mountain tops we soared, and in the valley, love we knew,
We watched the sun rise on our days, and through the sunset God is true.
It is of greatest comfort, the past is now at rest,
We know the future is secure, for God delights to bless.
None can steal His love from us, neither death nor ill,
Whatever time or place, we live within His will.
Our twilight paradise, deep in our hearts will stay,
For God's everlasting love, will never pass away.

Oh God of heaven, whose voice I hear
in the wind and whose breath gives life to all the world....hear my prayer.
Let me walk in beauty, through all my days
make my eyes see sunrise freshness..and sunset glory.
Make my hands respect the things You have made and my ear sharp to hear Your voice.
I am small and weak, I need Your strength...and wisdom.
make me wise...that I may learn the lessons You teach all people
the lessons You have hidden- for those who search - to know.
in the wind and whose breath gives life to all the world....hear my prayer.

~ Velvet Night ~
The night is descending, come now with me, into darkness
Velvet sweet delight. softness, can you feel it, as you rest
Stillness, roll inside it, puncturing reality anew
As the light releases and is gone, until there is nothing but the true
To shimmer in the mind, within the heart, cocooned.
Can you see we are not alone, shivering gently, overcome
No energy to stand, ease down softly to the sand.
Pause, listen, hear the night calling, sweet echo divine,
It hides more mystery to find.
With gentle fingers reach, to touch
Into the darkness of time- feel it, know it,
Love- God has given us to keep,
in this eternity, forever yours and mine.

~ The Sunset Of Life ~
As we look back upon your rich life, such is the beauty to see,
A blessed childhood, filled with days of sweet memory.
The wild adventures of tales to tell, how we love to listen of how it was then,
When life held such wonder, and mystery of when...
Your delight in your sweetheart, and building your home,
Then all the babies to love, how the years they have flown.
You worked every day, to bring home the bacon, is what you would say,
How proud we are, as we see you today, one of honor, in every way.
You represent all that is good, gentle, of integrity and truth
For the loving heart of God, you sought from your youth.
Now as grandchildren gather around, you set a goal for us all,
A life lived in simple faith and love, reaps beautiful reward,
Here for your pleasure, and later forever,
with all you love in the Lord.

~ Little Cloud Of Sunset Sky
~
Little cloud upon horizon, en-clasped in sunset's glowing light,
What there do you whisper, gently floating by...
What there do you warmly cry, held by glowing light and air,
Where from, where to going, nary there a care.
Doing as required, carrying your load,
What then, little cloud, what more shall we know.
Shapes and illustrations, how you entertain,
Not dispensing only shadows, nor dispatching only rain.
But you would be our happy friend, a face within the sky,
Artistic beauty, smiles, the gift of tender sigh.
Little cloud, all heaven's secrets hide, closer to our Father God you are,
Bring us all you can of Jesus, rain His love within our heart.
And little cloud, please blow so very far,
take this love unto my friend,
Shower down upon their life,
all the blessings prayed for them.
