Illness/Cancer, such an awesome word, we all dread more than all
Shall we investigate it's presence, to look at fear within our soul
Can illness/cancer overtake our life, or is God the one who holds
Our life within His hand...rather than mysterious unknown
Does He know exactly of our times, and keep the blueprint of the plan
Could He hold a lovely secret, to reveal His jewels of love
Preparing us for all He has in store above
Can we see unfolding blossoms, when such suffering comes our way
To tell us all He'd like to say
Are we given treasured gifts to ponder, on more of life's tomorrows
To depend on Him for every breath, to find a peace within the sorrow
How much more a greater joy, to find, than all we've known before
A love beyond description, and trust more deep and sure
Friends, who touch with sweetest kindness, in prayer and tenderness
Family, that hush life's other things, to desire the blessing of God's best
A miracle of inner grace, descending in to break the fear
As each new day unfolds, a faith to cradle near
Tears may fall of memories, but are relished more than gold
As God draws us to His heart, to put His comfort in our soul
Illness/Cancer never yet can conquer life, for life, God yet will give
Love's beauty blooms within the cold, eternal life our hope to keep,
His heart's compelled to make us whole

We will not lose our love, but be held in pleasant calm
We cannot lose our spirit, God holds us in His hand
We will not lose our faith, for God we'll understand
Our senses will be heightened, just as a toddler's is
We will feel important things, and know of joy and bliss
We'll read another's language, beyond the merest word
For feelings will be known, and all that holds true worth
While those around may struggle, to face their inner fears
We will be held secure, as Jesus will be near
He'll carry us each moment, and whisper secrets that we need
We'll not forget His love, though others may be grieved

Whatever happened to myself, to end up in this place
Where went my mobility, what tripped up my race
Where has all the freedom gone, to run just as I please
What of my way now, is there something to appease
Can I find more treasure yet, in another way to live
Will I ever see with different eyes, another way begin
Would God be choosing me, to especially dwell within
Revealing sweeter hidden secrets, of another love to give
How I love the stillness now, of listening to the birds
To watch, observe and ponder life, the existance of true worth
The value of a life to live, the time upon this earth
How God is wanting my relationship, and chose my humble birth
To place Himself deep in my soul, to give up asking why
But rest upon His loving self, as none else will satisfy

I rejoice with him whose pain my Saviour heals.
And I weep with him who still his anguish feels.
But earthly joys and earthly tears are confined to earthly years,
And greater good, the Word of God reveals.
In this life we have a cross that we must bear;
It’s just a tiny part of Jesus’ death that we can share.
And one day we’ll lay it down, ’cause He’s promised us a crown
To which our suffering can never be compared.
That’s why Heaven is nearer to me, and at times it is all I can see.
Sweet music I hear, coming down to my ear,
And I know that it’s playing for me.

And redeemed I shall stand by His side.

While watching my faltering steps, and my shaky hands
Then share a hug, a kindness, offering to help, any way you can

When my body trembles deep within, and I seem uncoordinated
Yet you don't seek to correct it all, to be what you thought it could have been
God bless you, if you come to visit, just to quietly sit and softly share
Gently being there to listen if you dare
While I stumble to explain how I feel, wanting to be real
Feeling tearful that you care....
God bless you if you still want to be my forever friend
When it is so hard to love me as you did before, and respect me unconditionally
With the heart of compassion, to see that I am overcome with fatigue
