1. All Citrus Flavored Water (adds refreshing tartness) -- slice 1 orange, 1 lime, 1 lemon into rounds, then cut rounds in half. Add to jar, press and twist with handle of spoon. Press to release some juices, but don't pulverize. Fill the jar with ice. Pour in water to the top. Stir.. Put a lid on it, put it in the fridge, and chill.
2. Raspberry Lime Flavored Water (beautiful color and mildly tart) -- Quarter 2 limes; with hands, squeeze juice into jar, then throw in the squeezed quarters. Add raspberries. Press and twist to release some of the juices
Fill with ice, then add water to the top. Stir, cover, and refrigerate.
3. Pineapple Mint Flavored Water (a hint of minty sweetness). Add a sprig of mint to the jar--you can throw in sprig; or, remove the leaves. Muddle the mint--bruise the leaves to release their flavor. Add pineapple pieces, press and twist to release juices. Add ice to the top and then water. Stir, cover, and refrigerate.
4. Blackberry Sage Flavored Water (subtle, refreshing flavor). Add sage leaves to jar and bruise. Add blackberries; press and twist to release juices. Fill jar with ice cubes, add water to the top, stir, cover and refrigerate.
5. Watermelon Rosemary Flavored Water (lovely flavor combo). Add a sprig of rosemary to jar and muddle gently (rosemary releases a strong flavor without much muddling). Add watermelon cubes; twist and press gently to release juices. Fill jar with ice cubes, add water to the top, stir, cover and refrigerate.
Put a lid on them, put them in fridge, and they will keep for up to 3 days. It only takes a few minutes to make several varieties to keep on hand. No more boring water for me!

For many, being able to grab anything healthy to take for breakfast or lunch alone is a feat,
much less go through the process of washing and preparing produce for a juice or smoothie.
How do you make this process easier? By advance preparation!
On a day of the week when you have more time (eg Sunday afternoon),
wash and cut fresh fruits and vegetables for smoothies, and portion them out - eg ziploc bags.
Make enough portions to last for the week, alternate ingredients in each portion
(Tip: if cutting apples or pears, put a little lemon juice on them to keep them from browning.)
Place your portions in the refrigerator (or the freezer, depending on ingredients –
eg freeze bananas for smoothies.), and you’re ready to go.
goodness! Most of these can be prepped in advance entirely, or at least partway.

You have to read this: Secret-ingredient-in-orange-juice
What works for you in your kitchen when making a glass or two of juice simply won’t work when trying to process thousands upon thousands of gallons of the stuff.
Haven’t you ever wondered why every glass of Tropicana Pure Premium orange juice tastes the same, no matter where in the world you buy it or what time of year you’re drinking it in? Why is the taste and flavor so consistent? Why is it that the Minute Maid never tastes like the Tropicana, but always tastes like its own unique beverage?
When you make orange juice at home, each batch tastes a little different depending on the oranges you made it from. I hope you’re hearing warning bells in your head right about now.
The reason your store bought orange juice is so consistently flavorful has more to do with chemistry than nature.
Making OJ should be pretty simple. Pick oranges. Squeeze them. Put the juice in a carton and voilà!
But actually, there is an important stage in between that is an open secret in the OJ industry. After the oranges are squeezed, the juice is stored in giant holding tanks and, critically, the oxygen is removed from them. That essentially allows the liquid to keep (for up to a year) without spoiling– but that liquid that we think of as orange juice tastes nothing like the Tropicana OJ that comes out of the carton. (source)
In fact, it’s quite flavorless. So, the industry uses “flavor packs” to re-flavor the de-oxygenated orange juice:
When the juice is stripped of oxygen it is also stripped of flavor providing chemicals.
Juice companies therefore hire flavor and fragrance companies, the same ones that formulate perfumes for Dior and Calvin Klein, to engineer flavor packs to add back to the juice to make it taste fresh.
Flavor packs aren’t listed as an ingredient on the label because
technically they are derived from orange essence and oil.
Yet those in the industry will tell you that
the flavor packs, whether made for reconstituted or pasteurized orange juice, resemble nothing found in nature.
The packs added to juice earmarked for the North American market tend to contain high amounts of ethyl butyrate, a chemical in the fragrance of fresh squeezed orange juice that, juice companies have discovered,
Americans favor. Mexicans and Brazilians have a different palate.
Flavor packs fabricated for juice geared to these markets therefore highlight different chemicals,
the decanals say, or terpene compounds such as valencine.
